ULTRA WORLD X-TET combines jazz, world, experimental and contemporary concert styles in a pioneering fusion of East and West. Concert highlights will include the world premiere performance of "Magical Adventures of the Monkey King", a musical journey through fantastic landscapes filled with demons, gods and mystical challenges. Follow the story of the mischievous Monkey King as he wields his awesome magical powers! Musicians: Yangqin Zhao, Yangqin; Gary Schwantes, Saxophones/Bamboo Flutes/Composer; Winnie Wong, Guzheng; Doug Ebert, Bass; Surya Prakasha, Drums/Percussion/Harmonium;  Rena Wang, Narrator.

Inspired by the classic Chinese novel  “Journey to the West”, the piece evokes the essence of the saga through the unique voice of ULTRA WORLD X-TET.
